Catherine's work is confronting and raw, exploring themes of youth, memory, and trauma. Weaving physical narrative with spoken word and audio interaction, she unravels the concepts of control and autonomy in relationship to becoming, and being, a woman. She invites that it is as vital to ask questions of who we once were, as it is to ask who we are and would like to become, to realize the work being born of us. Using original poetry, sound design, and movement, she carves nonlinear narrative from the landscape of memory and imagination. An alumna of The New School for Drama, she has trained and worked in collaborative and devised theater over the span of twelve years, including collaborative writing and performance of original pieces presented at venues such as The Emerging Artists Festival, New Dance Alliance’s Performance Mix Festival, and Gibney Dance. Her first full length solo piece, Threshold, started in workshop with New Dance Alliance, premiered at Gibney Dance in NYC in September 2019, and went on to an invited showing through Gibney Dance's Show/Share series in February 2020. Her subsequent full length piece, The Institution of a Family, was developed over the winter of 2020/21 and further workshopped in residence at ChaShaMa’s ChaNorth artist residency in May of 2021. Catherine is currently developing her latest pieces including Poppy, an examination of memory and perception, and Take Only What You Can Carry, a piece on presence and the energetic imprint remaining in abandoned spaces. In addition to making and performing, Catherine is a movement facilitator focused on somatic and creative exploration with the intent to strengthen the connection with all parts of the self. Catherine straddles work between NYC and the Hudson Valley and currently resides in the Kingston, NY.
