I write to pour. To sort the songs that are sung to me, spilling their thick milk through a sieve to distill and collect the bits that insist on remaining.
What is left confuses for days, and then, seemingly all at once, the sifted settles into something that is true. And in stepping back to meet the words in their new form, I am humbled and soothed by what they ask: to hear the harmony of my own voice with that which pours through me.
